CRITERION C CONTENTS LIST
WHAT MAKES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CRITERION C?
Required material properties are identified
Materials are tested and compared prior to selection
Topic 4 design language is used to describe, explain and justify choicesAll technical drawings are clear and able to be used and understood by others
BOM reflects actual research and is accurate
Plan of manufacture able to be understood and followed by others
- JUSTIFIED MATERIALS CHOICES
Explain/list the material properties and qualities required for your prototype (think topic 4)
Test and compare materials to decide which is best (add photo evidence)
Use topic 4 language when assessing and comparing materials (Young's modulus, stress, tension, mass, density, hardness etc)All chosen materials are identified in a table
Name, properties and availability included
Environmental impact/concerns stated
Materials choices are justified
2. JUSTIFIED MANUFACTURING CHOICES
Compare suitable manufacturing methods (add photo evidence and explain)
All Machines and tools identified in a table
Manufacturing choices are justified
Safety Concerns
Name, properties, common uses and availability included
3. DIMENSIONED PART DRAWINGS
Orthographic line drawings (CAD or drawn) for each component/part
Label each with a part title and scale
All external, internal and adjoining spaces are dimensioned
4. ASSEMBLY DRAWING
Exploded view used in line drawing format
Arrows and annotations explain assembly
A parts table can also be added
5. List of Parts (LOP)
Isometric, orthographic or exploded view of design
Parts are identified with numbers and arrows
Each part has a number, name, material and function labelled
6. BILL OF MATERIALS (BOM)
All materials used are listed in table format
Material use (which part it will be used for)
Cost per common unit sold
Amount used
Total cost for 1 prototype for each material and total cost overall
Brief explanation with a researched example of how buying in bulk could reduce this cost
7. PLAN OF MANUFACTURE
Table format, each step numbered in order
No more than 10 words per cell
Refers to exacting tools, materials and sizes used
Potential quality checks identified
Identify safety measures and concerns
Tick box to use later - indicates step complete or not
Utilise dimensioned drawings in steps
